| Belize,
formerly British Honduras is a Commonwealth
country situated in Central America, south of
Mexico with the beautiful Caribbean Sea as it's
eastern shore. A British Colony since 1861,
Belize achieved independence on September 21,
1981. It is the only county in Central
America that has English as the official language.
The county is just under 9,000 square miles with a
population of just over 180,000. Boasting
the second longest barrier reef in the world and
the great blue hole, it has long been a legendary
destination fishing and diving.
It
is believed that Belize was the heart of the Mayan
Civilization during the classical period and today
has many fine examples of Mayan archeological
sites still being excavated and restored.
The natural wonders, including the flora and
fauna, the rivers and caves make this a great
destination for the eco-tourist. Captain Van
believes Belize to be one of the last unspoiled
fishing holes left in the world.

is also making an impact on the international
