Capt. Sommers tactically maneuvers the fish clear of
the mangroves and hidden rock locations.

Hang on Robin... The Cubera is quite a challenge on
light tackle. Robin's weapon - Shimano's Calcutta 400 & All Star
PRMX Rod

On the way to the
record, Robin had to deal with other problems taking her bait... nice
problem to have! Robin had many serious hookups... Fred's comment
to me that "many of the fish in those rivers are just plain too
big!" Those big fish will take you for a ride for sure...
you've got to be good to land them. Left is Fred unhooking Tarpon.
Right is our celebrity... that's not a bad looking snook! Since no
one else could touch a rod while Robin was going for the record, she got
to catch all the fish!

World Record Catch!!!

Note to Fred & Robin... All of us
at Action Belize appreciate the commitment you made in setting this
record. The official records will not show the unusual and less
than desirable weather conditions that made this catch even more
challenging. Many, I'm sure, would have thrown in the towel; but
not once did I hear you complain about anything! In the spirit of
true sportsmanship, you hung right in there when it counted and made it
happen on the last day, just a couple hours before your trip was to end!
We are extremely privileged to have worked with such professionals...
you are welcome in our camp anytime!

Tarpon Snook is a variety of snook
that rarely reaches a full grown weight of 4 pounds. Fred's fish,
when caught, tipped the scale at just over 4 pounds. The weight
taken at the dock was 3.9 pounds. Tarpon snook are identified by a
certain fin placement & coloring & a small concave forehead.
Certain areas of Belize have more abundance of Tarpon Snook than any
where else in the world.
